With an excellent build quality and design, ease  use, a large number of features, and the overall quality of its recorded video, this Xiaomi offering is easily one of the best devices in its segment.

The lack of cloud storage and a few minor media output quirks are shortcomings, but they aren't major red flags. Currently going for Rs. 2,699 from the official Xiaomi online store and Amazon India, the Mi Home Security Camera 360° offers excellent value for money.

The security camera easily rotates by 360-degrees horizontally and has a vertical view of about 96-degrees. The microSD card slot is hidden underneath the main body and it is only when we move the camera up vertically, that it is revealed.  The back of the camera has a grill design for the speaker unit.

Xiaomi's Mijia ecosystem, sold mainly in China, consists of a wide range of smart home devices including everything from washing machines to smart cameras.  The Mi Home Security Camera 360° falls into the latter category  and is one of the few products from the ecosystem to have launched in India.  It has an appealing design and a tonne of features including live audio talkback and AI motion detection, but is the Mi Home Security Camera 360° actually worth buying, and how does it fare in day-to-day usage?

The Mi Home Security Camera 360° has a clean and attractive design, and looks almost like a toy, albeit one that is built solidly. The main camera body is a spherical shell with a pill-shaped cutout that allows the camera lens to tilt up and down. There's also a microSD card slot below the lens. On the back of the spherical body is the circular speaker grille.The base has a matte finish and you'll also find a reset button and a Micro-USB port at the back. The whole device appears to be made out of sturdy polycarbonate. The solid build quality certainly serves as an assurance of longevity.

The motorised camera movements are smooth, and the device does not make any noise during the calibration process, or in everyday use.The Mi Home Security Camera 360 has 10 IR LEDs that allow it to detect motion up to 9 meters away even at night. The Mi Home app also offers a call feature that essentially works as an intercom. You'll be able to dial into the camera, and it'll broadcast your voice via the built-in speaker.

The Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p is an internet-connected camera and works only if you have an active internet connection at home or in the room where it is deployed and neither does the camera support Wi-Fi direct where you could connect the camera to the smartphone without a wireless router.You can use this as webcam.To use your phone's camera as a webcam, you will have to install the below-mentioned app on your Android device. The app work on a client-server model and will make a connection via IP Address. So make sure that your device and laptop are connected to the same WiFi network.
